LAHORE: The government of Punjab has announced a proposal to promote the idea of the “smart university,” along with the development of additional academic facilities with public-private joint-ventures and partnerships.
On Sunday, a conference chaired by Sardar Usman Buzdar, Punjab Chief Minister agreed on the proposal
Minister Sardar Usman was updated on the status of the district’s 15 new institutions during the conference. He instructed that the procedure of replacing available college president positions be completed as quickly as possible, and that merit should be assured in the selection of directors and secretary of educational boards.
It was further declared that 197 professional educational projects worth Rs15 billion will be implemented across the region. The property acquisition procedure for 21 out of the 88 planned institutions had been accomplished.
The minister stated that having an institution in each district will give greater chances for students, particularly female students, to pursue further education, and thus the creation of Indus University of Rajanpur will meet the desire of the local community.
Institutions would be constructed in Bhakkar, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Gujranwala, Hafizabad and other areas.
