However, there are a great deal of requirements that must be fulfilled in order to study in the USA. Hence, a considerable amount of preparation is involved in the study abroad process for the USA. To make things a little easier, here is a guide on how to prepare to study in the USA.

Research Universities

There are thousands of universities and colleges in the USA. There are also six distinct degree types, which are associate, bachelor, first-professional, master, advanced intermediate, and research doctorate. Most international students will opt for a Bachelor’s degree.

Students must research not only the best American university to apply to, but also the best degree and programs to opt for. You must meet the minimum marks requirements and other eligibility criteria in order to apply.

Study for Final Exams

Students must score well on their 12th class final exams in order to secure admission into a good American university. The exact minimum marks requirements can be found on the official website of the university that you are applying to. However, as a rule of thumb, students should aim for above 70% on the final exams.

For the best exam preparation, utilize tutoria.pk’s best exam preparation resources such as solved past papers, book notes, and lecture videos. These study tools are available for all educational boards including Karachi Board and Lahore Board.

Study for SAT

The Scholastic Aptitude Test, or the SAT, is a standardized test that is used by the American College Board for admission in universities in the USA. The SAT is the primary consideration for admission in an American university. The SAT consists of two components, mathematics and evidence-based reading and writing.

In order to effectively prepare, intermediate students can avail SAT preparation classes, resources, and practice tests. The total score for the SAT is 1600, and intermediate students should ideally score above 1200 to be granted admission in a university in the USA.

Submit Application

Students can apply for most universities in the USA online. This consists of an application form that must be completed with accurate and up to date information. Students will also be required to submit all required documents, including the final exams result, SAT score, English Proficiency Test score, personal statement, and any other requirements demanded by the university. The application and all relevant documents must be submitted before the deadline.

Obtain Study Visa

Once students receive the acceptance letter to a university, the next step is to obtain the study visa, known as the F Visa in the USA. Once international students receive the acceptance letter from an SEVP-approved university, they will be registered for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and must pay the SEVIS I-901 fee.

The SEVP-approved school will issue a Form I-20.  After the Form I-20 is received, and the student registers in SEVIS, then may apply at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate for a student F Visa.  The Form I-20 must be presented to the consular officer at the time of the visa interview.

Travel to the USA

Once the visa has been granted, students can begin making travel arrangements. This includes booking an airplane ticket, packing according to the weather conditions of the American city they will be staying in, and packing all travel documents.

Students should also research the city in advance to have a good idea of where to go once they land in the USA. Students must also arrange for their housing so that they have a place to stay when they arrive.

Following these steps will ensure that international students are well prepared to begin studying in the USA. International students who are interested to study abroad should follow these steps for a smooth transition to the United States of America.
