LONDON: Earlier this week The Pakistan High Commission in London announced Scholarships for Pakistani Students to study at Oxford University under the name of the “Oxford Pakistan Programme”. The purpose of this program is to provide research and learning opportunities to the youth of Pakistan in one of the most renowned universities in the world. This Programmed is officially launched in London on 30 September.
The program is initiated by two Oxford alums, Haroon Zaman and Talha Pirzada. Adeel Malik who is the associate professor at Oxford University will be the academic head of the project. This project is funded by the Pakistani community in England and they collected over £500,000 for the program and promised to help this project and the students coming to England.
Adeel Malik was present at the launching ceremony of this program, he said that Pakistan is still considered a terrorist country in the world, and it’s time to change this image with the help of our youth. He also announced the launch of a new research initiative on “National Sovereignty and Development” at the International University and further stated that this new project will be named after Muhammad Ali Jauhar, one of the most famous political leaders in the Pakistan movement.

The students from Pakistan are invited to do research in different fields of education, get higher education at Oxford University and promote the soft image of Pakistan. This Scholarship includes graduate scholarships for unprivileged students, visiting fellowships for Pakistani faculty members of universities and colleges, and special lectures on eastern philosophy.
British High Commissioner to Pakistan Christian Turne was also present at this launching ceremony. He said that this scholarship program will strengthen the academic cooperation between Pakistan and UK and he also acknowledged the Pakistani Community in England and said that 1.6 million Pakistanis living in the UK are ambassadors of Pakistan and UK friendship.
The University of Oxford is a research university in Oxford, England. It started its teaching as early as 1096, making it the oldest university in the English-speaking world and the world’s second-oldest university in continuous operation.
