During an interactive discussion with reporters on SNC, senior journalists like Saleem Bukhari, Ajmal Jami, Khalid Farooqi, and Raees Ansari, as well as officials from the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) and education experts, shared his thoughts and answered queries.

While answering the query related to the language of books, the minister said “Books for first to fifth classes are definitely in Urdu with the aim of enabling children to understand their mother tongue. But students from sixth grade to tenth grade will read subjects in English. In addition, NOCs have been issued to various private schools for various books, but NOCs will be available only for books that fall within the scope of the SNC”.

In addition, denying claims of a shortfall, the general director of PCTB stated that syllabi for first through fifth grades have been printed and are readily available in the market.

As per Khalid Farooqi’s concern that Urdu literature and Urdu language writers who contributed to the growth of Urdu should be taught in the curriculum, Dr. Murad stated “Our national language is Urdu and there is a lot to teach in the Urdu subject. The curriculum needs to teach fiction by writers like Saadat Hassan Manto, Munshi Prem Chand, and Krishn Chandar. The poetry of Allama Iqbal, Faiz, Ghalib, and other high profile Urdu poets should also be included in the curriculum”
