The Government of Pakistan has issued a NOC for Cambridge Board to conduct exams from July 26 to August 5. The official approval was given by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood.
“We issued a NOC today [Thursday] to British Council allowing it to hold special O level exams from July 26 to August 6,” he tweeted on Thursday. “This will facilitate O-level students to start A level or FA/Fsc from September.”
The action was taken after the international board delivered a letter to the Government asking for immediate action.
The Minister stated that the pandemic has generated tough scenarios for students who are aiming to secure great marks this year. “We have been taking difficult decisions to ensure that education/ learning continues.”
Mahmood further said that every resolution contains pros and cons that work towards the interest and welfare of students which is beneficial.
On Friday after a press release, Cambridge clarified that conducting the exams will not put the safety of the students at risk. “These exams will take place in venues where compliance with current Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is possible.”
Students will attempt one question paper per subject which will consist of a multiple-choice paper with a time limit of 60 minutes. Private students will also attend these exams with the appropriate timetable for the assessments to be announced.
“We will make Pakistan Studies, Islamiyat, Urdu 1st Language, and Urdu 2nd Language available in the November 2021 series.”
