COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) is a public university in Pakistan, first established in 1998 by the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS).
In 2002, the Federal Government granted CIT the status of a Degree Awarding Institute (DAI) through promulgation of its charter.
COMSATS University consists of 7 distinct campuses located across Pakistan, with its head campus located in the capital city of Islamabad. The campuses are located in Lahore, Abbottabad, Wah, Attock, Sahiwal and Vehari, while six more campuses at Gujrat, Kotli, Karachi, Larkana, Quetta, and Peshawar are in the works. The university also offers a virtual campus with its head office in Islamabad.
The University offers 6 distinct faculties with 20 academic departments and 8 research centers. In addition to this, CUI bolsters 43 distinct undergraduate programs, and 55 postgraduate programs.
The Institute’s mission is threefold:

CUI aspires to be both one of the top research institutions and one of the best higher education providers in the country. It envisages becoming a university by the name of “COMSATS University”, for which the legal documentation is under process with the Government of Pakistan. The vision being pursued by the CUI is to become one of the top 100 universities in the developing world. COMSATS University Islamabad is accredited and recognized as a Degree Awarding Institution by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan. It also has accreditation by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pharmacy Council of Pakistan, Pakistan Council for Architects and Town Planners, National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), and the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) Web of Knowledge.
In addition to its national accreditation, CUI also has the honor of receiving international rankings. According to The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019, which includes more than 1,250 universities, COMSATS is only University from Pakistan ranked 600-800 in overall ranking. COMSATS is also ranked 401-500 in the 2019 THE Computer Science Subject Ranking and ranked 301-400 in the 2019 THE Engineering and Technology Subject Ranking.
Moreover, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), which features only four Pakistani universities, has placed COMSATS in the 601-700 band of the ranking, which is the highest ranking university in Pakistan.
As per QS Universities ranking COMSATS was the second best Pakistani university on the list, claiming a place in the 401-450 band in the engineering and technology broad category. The university scored highly for the number of citations per paper and academic reputation.

COMSATS offers various sports facilities for students. With a large sports ground, students can participate in a number of sports activities, teams, and competitions. In addition to this, there are plenty of clubs and societies for students to join, and university wide events such as Fun Fairs that take place throughout the year.
In addition to this, for the convenience of students, the campus offers a health care center with a medical officer and two nursing staff to provide the first aid and to fulfill the emergency requirements.
Cafeterias are located throughout the campus, offering hygienic meals to students at subsidized rates.
Students who are interested in getting admission into CUI can do so by applying for admission during the open dates. The admission process usually commences from June of each year for the Fall semester starting from September. For the Spring semester, admissions open in December and the classes commence from March of each year,
Intermediate students can find the online application form from the official CUI website. Here students will be asked to enter general information and desired programs. After this, students will be asked to submit their educational information, including submitting scanned copies of their HSSC final exams certificates, SSC certificates, and entry test results if applicable.
Intermediate students must pay the admission processing fees at the designated banks mentioned on the fee voucher. Once the fee payment is confirmed, the application with be successfully accepted for further processing.
After the fee is submitted, intermediate students must then appear for an NTS entry test, for which CUI will issue an exam seating slip. The syllabus will be according to the intermediate syllabus and subjects will vary depending on the program that students are applying for. In general, students must score at least 60% in their final exams in order to be eligible for admission in COMSATS University Islamabad. Hence, strong exam preparation is a must.
