Rawalpindi formally known as Pindi, is the fourth-largest city in Pakistan. Located in the Punjab province of Pakistan, it is one of the largest metropolitan areas. Rawalpindi is adjacent to Islamabad and jointly called as twin cities of Pakistan. The historic GT Road (Grand Trunk Road) passes by Pindi and connects Peshawar to Islamabad and Lahore. Several social and economic factors are the reason for its popularity in the country. It has a population of 2,098,231 in the area of approx. 108.8 square kilometers. Local people of Pindi speak a variety of Punjabi languages like Pothohari, Majhi, Pahari, Shahpuri, Dhani, and Kashmiri.
