Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has launched the biggest tree plantation drive in the history of Pakistan under Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Programme (TBTSP). On Sunday, Mr. Prime Minister took to twitter and shared the news along with an infographic.
The infographic depicted the number of trees per person in various countries including Pakistan, India, Canada, Greenland, China, France, and USA etc. Canada led the race with the most number of trees per person i.e. 10,163, while Pakistan ranked lowest with only 5 trees per person.
The tweet read, “We have a lot of catching up to do and we will be gearing up this monsoon season for our plantation drive — the biggest in Pakistan’s history.” Since the launch of this programme in the Spring Plantation drive upto 50 million trees and 814.6 million plants have been planted across the country.

As part of phase-I of the program, 3.2 billion trees will be planted and the Government plans to achieve the ten billion goal by the end of June 2021. Moreover, the government will also offer incentives to students for taking an active part in the plantation drive.
For every 20 saplings planted, students will earn an additional 20 points in the board exams. Furthermore, university students will be required to plant 20 trees during the course of their degree.
