Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid Of Aiming To Be First

“Always reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars”.

This is a popular saying that encourages individuals to set extremely high goals for themselves without the fear of failing. Many students have the potential to be very successful and score the highest grades on their final board exams, but they do not work towards their exam preparation due to their lack of belief in their own abilities to be number one.

In order to be truly successful in your academics and career, you must be willing to set high expectations for yourself and work towards them. Do not underestimate yourself and settle for second place when you have the potential to work towards first place.

By refusing to set high goals, you are restricting yourself from being successful right from the start. So, if you want to score high marks on your BISE final board exams, then set your goal to become the topper! Similarly, if you want to start your own business, then don’t be afraid to aim towards becoming a millionaire! There is no harm is setting big goals, as long as you are willing to actively and consistently work towards them.

Here are just some reasons why you should not be afraid of aiming high and setting big goals for yourself.

Gives you something to work towards

Big goals give you something to look forward to. They excite your imagination and allow yourself to visualize yourself in the successful scenario. As a result, you will be more consistent and dedicated towards achieving the goal. Hence, it gives you a reason to be productive. For example, if your goal is to be the topper in the BISE final board exams, then you will be extra dedicated and hardworking towards your exam preparation.

On the other hand, when you do not set big goals for yourself, then you do not give yourself a reason to work hard, which leads you to become uninterested. Hence, your productivity will fall very short of your potential.

Can be motivating to be progress

Many people shy away from setting big goals because they are afraid that failure will shatter their morals and demotivate them drastically. But this catastrophizing attitude prevents them from considering how motivating and empowering it is to see progress towards the goal. That’s right, when working towards a big goal, you will feel a surge of pride and motivation with every small milestone you achieve. In the case of working towards topping your BISE final board exams, you will be very motivated towards continuing your exam preparation with each BISE past papers and chapter that you cover.

Even if you fall short, you still achieve something

As the quote mentioned above, even if you fall short when working towards your big goal, you will still land among the stars. This means that even if you do not achieve exactly what you were hoping for, you will still be better off than you were before you started working towards the goal. For instance, if despite your strenuous exam preparation you are not able to become the topper, then you will still come out with impressive grades on your final board exams. Which is not bad at all.

The point here is that you should not be afraid of not achieving your goal, as your efforts will not go in vain either way. You will still be better than if you do not put in any effort. Moreover, there is always the opportunity to continue working towards success. You can continue trying to aim for first place.

As you can see, there is no harm in believing in yourself and aiming for first place. You should never let the fear of failure restrict yourself from working towards success. Do not take every setback as a reason to become demotivated and self-critical, but merely view it as a learning experience and the opportunity to get back up and continue working towards your dreams.
